In a number of weeks I hope to stay a few days in Milan, as I have never been there before. If you happen to have any tips for good places to stay or dine there, please let me know. Thank you!

In our opinion, the best hotel in Milan is the Hotel Principe di Savoia. It's a five star, luxury hotel and it's a member of The Leading Hotels of the World organization. We stayed there quite a few years ago and loved it. It's centrally located, right in the heart of the city. You can get additional information about the hotel by visiting its website:

You would do well at the Principe di Savoia, certainly in my top 3. Excellent service and beautiful rooms. And very reasonable when you book one of their promotional rates.

Technically the best hotel in Milan is really the Four Seasons. The Bulgari Resort I would also consider to be one of the best. But, I've found that it's difficult to get a deal at the Four Seasons now matter how far in advance I tried to book.

For restaurants, you want to try to go to Il Luogo di Aimo e Nadia, which is in my opinion the best in all of Milan.

And Ristorante Cracco is also excellent, near the Duomo. Good luck!

There is a restaurant just inside the Galleria near the Duomo (name escapes me) that we have visited a couple of times. I still dream about their Veal Milanese.

I also had lunch at a restaurant inside the Galleria Vittorio Emmanuelle (that´s the name), it was almost 20 years ago so I don´t know if the restaurant still exists, but I can still remember the delicious bread with olives and anchovies they served there (this bread also had a special name I can´t remember right now).

The Park Hyatt is great- The location is perfect and the rooms have great style.

Here are some restaurant reccomendations from a local as well:

Here are a few suggestions for restaurants I tried and where I normally enjoy having either dinner or lunch.
I like variety, so I listed very different things: up to you to choose (!) CONTEMPORARY
    1)
    Joia
This is a very strange restaurant, innovative and conceptual.
Food has very little resemblance to traditional Italian cuisine - it is very light, sophisticated and elaborate.
I enjoy it very much - it is great if you want to try many things without eating too much.
    Very refined atmosphere.
    1 Michelin star
Closed Sunday and Saturday at lunch

    2)
    Sadler
    You cannot go wrong here.
Best restaurant in town according to Michelin (2 stars).
I like what they do - great if you want to eat Italian food in a very modern and up-to-date interpretation.
Same as before: closed Sunday and Saturday at lunch www.sadler.it TRADITIONAL
    3)
    Giulio Pane e Ojo
Best restaurant in Milan ... if you want to eat like if you were in Rome.
Delicious pasta ("bucatini all'amatriciana", "carbonara", "cacio e pepe") as well as other Roman specialties:
"puntarelle" (special variety of salad with a light anchovies dressing), "scottadito" (grilled lamb ribs), "pecorino" cheese, etc.
This is a very young, fashionable and busy restaurant - booking is essential, service is informal (they may ask you to wait a bit, even if you book) Closed on Sunday GIULIO PANE E OJO Via Muratori 10, tel. 02.54.56.189. Chiuso domenica. Cucina aperta sino alle 24
    4)
    Al Matarel
This is very traditional Northern Italian (and specifically Milanese) food.
Here you would have the best "risotto" and "milanese" in town - top quality throughout.
I recommend it if you are eager to try Northern Italian food - which overall is rich and would work better in winter.
Remember to bring cash if you go there: they do not take credit cards.

Milan has a handful of wonderful boutique hotels that are definitely worth considering.

The Gray is a sleek and modern boutique hotel with a great location between the Duomo and the La Scala Opera House, facing Galleria Vittorio Emanuele.

But, my favorite is the Straf, which is both exhilaratingly exotic and stylish.
