I'd love to hear if any of the foodies out there have any great restaurant picks for Munich.

I recommend Tantris in Schwabing. http://www.tantris.de/ The priced-fixed menu, which changes daily, is just outstanding and Paula Bosch's wine pairings are an experience not to be missed. The service is very attentive and beautifully done. Let me warn you that the meal will be extraordinarily expensive. 150€ per person during the week and 195€ on Friday and Saturdays. You'll never forget the experience and my feeling is that especially if it's for a special occasion, you won't regret it either.

Boettner’s in Altstadt section of Innenstadt, not too far from the Mandarin Oriental, is also a must. This is a beautiful restaurant that has been handed down in the family for many generations. The food and the service is exemplary, though it's also very expensive.

If those are too expensive, as many restaurants in Munich are, especially if you are used to US dollars these days, you should head straight to Paulaner am Nockherberg a wonderful pub located in Giesing. Be prepared for some excellent beers! http://www.nockherberg.com/en/index/index1.php
