Luggage recommendations
  • Sadly, my old trusty luggage has worn out and the broken handle is telling me that it needs to finally be replaced. I'm looking for a new set so let me know if you have a sturdy, functional and somewhat fashionable set of luggage that you wouldn't leave home without!
  • The best luggage I've ever owned is my current Victorinox E-motion 22-inch Trek backpack/roller... Durable, stylish, secure, & functional. AND it's the largest allowable carry-on size. It's been to 5 continents and still looks great.
  • I love Rimowa's aluminium suitcases. Not only are they uber-stylish, they are very sturdy.
  • Travelpro is unbeatable, especially their Platinum line (currently in the fifth iteration). True, it doesn't look the most stylish. But you will feel that every penny you spend goes toward the quality of the product instead of a designer name or fancy advertising. My first Travelpro Platinum purchase was about 8 years ago. It has been all over the U.S., Africa, Japan, China, U.K., and on and on. It has gotten temporarily lost, but has never failed me. The wheels spin like new, the zippers work smoothly, and the exterior still cleans up nice. I just can't sing enough praises. I refuse to purchase any luggage except Travelpro Platinum.
  • Like the other commenters, I tend to go for durability over style when it comes to luggage. After all, nothing is more annoying than a broken zipper or a bad wheel on your suitcase!

My favorite product review/shopping website has several options for sturdy but stylish luggage (organized by type):

Hope that helps - and be sure to let us know what you end up getting!

Also - the Travelpro Platinum line looks very interesting, prfsrchaos, I'll have to look into that next time I'm in the market for new luggage.
  • I'm partial to Tumi, but you'll definitely want to visit a store and test-run the suitcases so you can see/feel how they'll work with whatever you're packing.
  • Not sure what type of luggage you are looking for but I'd go with Louis Vuitton. It isn't fragile or easy to damage. I have had my LV luggage for nearly ten years and it has really held up amazingly. I travel for leisure once or twice a month and I have never had a problem with any of it. I wouldn't recommend getting the canvas, but the leather instead. They also repair most pieces free of charge if you bring it in to a boutique so any little damages can easily be fixed.
  • I agree with LV luggage. Plus they're very good looking. Other good, sturdy brands are

and if you really want the good stuff, the latest thing is the HENK "no suitcase"

  • If you want to buy a house, you will have to receive the business loans. Furthermore, my brother all the time takes a commercial loan, which is really reliable.
