Before I head to Prague in a few weeks, are there any good restaurants recommendations that someone would care to share?

if you are looking for some good restaurants in Prague i can recomend:
-Ambiente La Degustation (the best tasting menu ever, 14 courses with a seperate wine chosen specifically to complement the main dishes)
-Flambee restaurant in Husova street (all the celebs who visit Prague go there)
-Hergertova cihelna in Cihelna street (great view of charles bridge, the river and the city, amazing food)
-Ambiente Brasileiro near Staromestske namesti (degustation menu of brazilian meats and fish, all you can eat, food is brought to the table by Brazilian waiters, with chunks of all types of grilled meat imaginable stuck on a sword and then carved of to your liking. My favourite!)Thanks from: Herry Lawford -

There's a Czech restaurant named David in the Little Quarter that is a terrific find. It's very small so make reservations well in advance. The wine list is one of the highlights.

I hate to be negative about Prague because we LOVED it but we had a terrible dinner at a highly recommended restaurant and I we never tell anyone to go there. It's called Bellevue. Beware.

The Allegro restaurant at the Four Seasons just received a michelin star - it's the first michelin-starred restaurant
in the czech republic and certainly deserves it - I've been
there many times and it was always a delight. Few tables
do have a view of the Charles Bridge (attached). There is
a summer terrace too.Another good italian restaurant is Aromi.

I have to second the recommendation for Hergetova Cihelna. The food was spectacular, and the ambience was really lovely.

You'll have to ask people in Prague as I cannot give directions (it is not in the centre), but do not miss the restaurant at the Hotel Diana. Great food, especially the meat dishes, at a price that will not make your eyes smart.

There's a sidewalk cafe directly across from the clock--part of the U Prince Hotel. It is a perfect spot for people watching. The food is good, at best; the service fair, at best. The people watching some of the best in Prague. They also have a restaurant on the top of the hotel with fantastic views overlooking Prague. Same food, same service but views that make up for that tenfold. Quite romantic on the top as well.

I loved this little restaurant we found at the Hotel Cerny Slon right across from the astronomical clock. You went around the bar and down down down the stairs to a landing and then around the corner was the very very romantic restaurant in the wine cellar. Stone floors and exposed brick with wonderful food and fabulous wine. I was so happy there.

Donna Elena and I are in Prague this week and, before attending a performance of Tosca at the Statni Opera Praha earlier this evening, we dined at the Allegro Restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel. (We're staying at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, across the river, in Malastrana). As Czech28 indicated above, the Allegro Restaurant was the first dining establishment in the Czech Republic that was granted a Michelin star. However, we were not that impressed. Granted, the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous - exquisitely decorated and amply adorned with beautiful floral arrangements everywhere. In addition, the service was excellent - efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. But, surprisingly, we found the food to be just good - good but certainly not great. The biggest disappointment was a pasta dish that was listed as being prepared "Amatriciana" style. We, of course, expected the dish to be full of the typical spices that make it one of the most popular dishes in Roman cuisine. Instead, it was bland and virtually tasteless - a total disaster. When we inquired what had happened, we were told by our friendly waiter that the chef was Italian and he felt that that was the way it should be prepared. (We subsequently learned that he was from Veneto, not from Rome.) We couldn't believe that answer. Anyhow, the rest of the meal was reasonably good but, certainly not one of the best we've had during our stay here. So, if Allegro deserves that solo Michelin star, we don't think it earned that star based on its food.

This evening, we had an early dinner before going to the Statni Opera Praha. (Tonight it was "Carmen.") The restaurant we went to was La Provence:
La Provence
Štupartská 745/9
110 00 Praha 1-Staré Město
296 826 155We found the food there to be extremely good and each dish was delicious and beautifully presented. I had the mussels with saffron cream sauce and they were the best mussels I've ever had in my life, even better than any I've had in Belgium. Donna Elena had a duck dish and raved about it.
The ambience was wonderful too. With beautiful, dark paneled walls and French charm, if you didn't know you were in Prague, you could easily believe you were in Paris or, better yet, in Avignon or Arles. We highly recommend La Provence to anybody who's visiting Prague and would like to have an excellent dining experience.
