Courchevel or Verbier are probable the most renown resorts in the alps for having some of the top premium accommodations, restaurants and both have exceptional skiing.

If you're interested in catered chalets there are some fab properties to choose from in France and Switzerland.

Although I prefer Switzerland to France for skiing, there is a really wonderful hotel in the French Alps. It is called Le Melezin and it is really a step away from your average run of the mill five star hotel. It is unique in design and the service is high above par. The suites are really beautiful and are a rustic mix between modern alpine and traditional provencal style.
