There has been much recent discussion about perfecting hotel rooms. I thought it only made sense to start a thread on making the world's most perfect airline.
I'm sure none of our suggestions will ever be implemented — as airlines are hurting so much these days, and any suggestion that costs money is usually swept under the rug. But you never know.
So, let's hear your suggestions! If you were running an airline, what would you change?
I'd have the airline replace the conventional baggage claim tags that they now use with RFID (radio frequency identification) tags that could be easily (and frequently) scanned, as your baggage moves between various terminals and planes, on the way to your end destination. Consequently, you could easily and quickly track the whereabouts of your baggage if it gets lost, in a manner similar to the way Fed Ex and UPS enable you to track where your shipments are, or last were, at any given time.
My simple suggestion would be to ensure airline staff always to call passengers by name. Some already do - particularly in the premium seats - like Cathay, but some never do - like BA - wherever you sit. Using someone's name is both a politeness and an insurance that things will be civil. It's almost impossible to be dismissive and surly if you have to use someone's name, whereas the falsely deferential 'Sir' or 'Madam' merely sounds officious and should be left to the police.
