My husband and I are planning a vacation next May/June and as we are celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary we would like something really special, romantic but with action as well.
India was definitely going to be the elected destination but with the recent incidents we decided to postpone it, so the North of Thailand/Hong Kong or a Tanzania Safari are some ideas we had so far.
We would appreciate suggestions for a memorable 10 to 12 days vacation!
Thank you.
I am sad to hear that you have changed your mind about going to India since the attacks in Mumbia. I just returned from Mumbai four days ago and I must say it was sad to see what happened but it is still as wonderful as ever. If you did decide to go to India you will find some wonderful deals at hotels like the new Four Seasons in Mumbai or the Oberoi Amanvillas near Delhi.
Since you will not likely not be going to India I would highly recommend visiting Tanzania. You should look at what Abercrombie & Kent offers in the area so you do not have to fuss with any of the arrangements. Last year I booked A&K for 15 days in Tanzania / Kenya and it was really wonderful. The accommodations were above par and very luxurious, the 4x4 safaris that were planned all offered viewing of African game and the service was impeccable.
Don't be a lemming. This may be the BEST time to go to India. Yes, the incidents were tragic, BUT I expect many would-be vacationers to cancel trips. This means there it will be less crowded, which means better deals, AND heightened security to boot. The bad guys know this, and I highly doubt that "lightning will strike twice".
I highly recommend Micato Safaris (www.micato.com). I believe that June is a good month to view migration. I went on a safari in Kenya, but they have many options. My favorite activity was hot air ballooning and landing for a champagne breakfast in the middle of nowhere! You will certainly make memories to last a lifetime.
