There's a new sheriff in town. Actually, I mean there's a new hotel in town. Actually, I mean there's a whole lot of new hotels in town. The town is Las Vegas and they're all in just one location, City Center:
City Center is the biggest thing to hit Las Vegas in many years and everybody's talking about it:

Financed by MGM Mirage and Dubai World (both of which have had some severe financial problems lately) to the tune of about US$8.5 Billion (can you believe that number?) the two companies have placed a high-stakes, high-risk bet that this venture will succeed, even in the midst of a struggling global and domestic economy.
If, over the next few months, any of Extravigator.com's readers stay at any of the hotels that comprise City Center, it would be really interesting to hear your opinions about the place.

Whether or not City Center in Las Vegas will succeed, and what effect it will have on other hotels in the city, remains a hot topic of discussion around the world, particularly in Chinese-speaking countries, where gambling is a popular pastime. Here is a recent article (in English) from Taiwan:

The competition between hotels in Las Vegas is becoming intense. Check out this deal that the Venetian is offering:

I wonder if this is business as usual or if the deals are even sweeter as a result of the opening of City Center.

The New York Times recently reviewed the Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas and the review should be of interest to all those who are contemplating traveling to Las Vegas and perhaps staying at City Center:
