I'm going to Vegas in early December and wondering if anyone has advice on the best hotel for your money. I'm not a high roller, but like vacation with a bit of luxury. I'd love to stay at the Bellagio or Venetian, but I may need to save a few and stay somewhere like the Paris.
I'd also like it to be as kid-free as possible, so Circus Circus is out of the question.

Often the Four Seasons has better deals than many of the novelty hotels. I have found, for example, that at $285 the Four Seasons rate is cheaper than a suite at the MGM! Look at this deal, for example. Even if you're not traveling with your family, it's a good rate for a luxury property on the strip, while still taking advantage of the facilities of the Mandalay Bay...

In my opinion, The Four Seasons is great, but its location leaves something to be desired. It's on the far end of the strip and right next to the airport.
But it's really easy to find good deals at all of the hotels in Las Vegas if you're flexible with your dates. Even the Bellagio's own website has Deluxe King Rooms for $169 per night on non-peak days next month (before and after Thanksgiving). During the middle of the week, you should be able to get something under $300 per night for a Deluxe room.
If you don't need to be in Las Vegas on a weekend, you'll have no problem getting a nice room at the best hotels on the strip for a good price. The last we stayed at the Bellagio, we booked a Deluxe room and we were upgraded to the Spa Tower with an amazing view of the lake. It was well worth the original price that we paid.

If you really want a "Vegas" experience, I wouldn't recommend the Four Seasons at all.
I'm persoanlly partial to the Bellagio, a lot less "tacky" than a lot of the other choices (and has great restaurants).
The Venetian would be my second choice.
I think the Paris is "ok". If you are into the spas at all, maybe you should consider Ceaser's Palace (a more affordable option). They opened a "Roman" spa last year and it's supposed to be quite nice. It also has great shopping attached to it!

THE Hotel is even less tacky than the Bellagio (which is still fairly tacky, although their Club Privé is my favorite place to gamble.) The location also isn't as central--it's at the end of the strip near the Four Seasons--but you do have access to a topless pool. Which is certainly tacky. But in a fun way.
Has anyone tried The Wynn? I'm thinking of venturing there next.

The Wynn has a special week day rate of $179 per night advertised currently on Travelzoo for stays through April 30th. However, it stipulates that you have to book by February 22nd. Here are the details:

I haven't stayed there yet but some friends have and were quite impressed.

I was underwhelmed by the Bellagio. The public areas - casino, lobby restaurants - are certainly impressive, but I found the decor in the rooms themselves to be singularly unsexy. Too much pastel.
THEhotel feels more grownup and less botoxed than most other things in Vegas, but then again, tacky is part of the quintessential Vegas experience.

I thought the Wynn was fairly refined (for Vegas). And if you want to stay kid-free, I'd avoid the MGM Grand. Perhaps I was there at a bad time, but there were tons of kids running around.

I liked Mandalay Bay a lot. It's affordable compared to other "high roller" hotels but still has that luxury feel. Also, the restaurants there are top notch. I went there for my birthday a couple years ago and saw Mamma Mia (which was awesome) and overall had a really classy time!

On the strip, I like THEhotel at Mandalay Bay. All suites, no casino of its own, and very nice. A bit expensive, but worth it.
Off the strip, I like Green Valley Ranch Resort. Upscale laid-back feel, nice people. But again, it is NOT on the strip.

Try the SIGNATURE at MGM Grand. I think it's the best value in Las Vegas and, with Virtuoso amenities, you even get breakfast, a F&B credit, and (possibly) an upgrade from a Jr. Suite to a full 1 BR Suite. Beautiful rooms. Totally non-smoking. No casino in The Signature, but it's connected to MGM Grand by a covered moving walkway).
