My favourite hotel in Paris is Le Bristol on the Rue Faubourg St Honore. Recently renovated, it is now as up to date as well as exquisite. Owned by the Oetker family rather than a big chain, it retains has an individual feel. At it's heart is a lovely garden cafe which is one of the nicest spots in Paris.

I definitely agree, the Bristol is one of the most heart warming parisian hotel by far. My advice concerning the place is to enjoy their delicious french pastry at tea time as well as their "thés à la mode" that mix it with a fashion show.

Oh dear. I spent a wonderful week at Le Bristol about 20 years ago and thought it was so beautiful and special. I hope they haven't renovated it like the idiots who own Brown's Hotel in London did--totally destroying the essence of the place.
