I have plans to head to Montreal for a long weekend in mid-February. Can anyone recommend any good places to stay?

About a year ago I checked into Hotel Gault and was pleasantly surprised. Very modern and sleek rooms. Flou beds, heated floors and huge tubs with wall-sized doors separating the bathroom and the bedroom.
It felt a little isolated on the quiet side-street of Old Montreal that it's located on, but it was just a short walk to everything. I'd definitely go back. February is a nice time of year to visit Montreal. Not very crowded, good rates and very quaint when it's snowing. Just make sure you bring a good jacket.

I travel to Montreal 3 to 4 times per year and always try to stay at
Loews Hotel Vogue. It is located on De La Montagne just off Ste.Catherine Street and one block beside Crescent Street. The rates are very low, I am often paying less than $200 / night for a large room. The rooms are very comfortable with Frette sheets and large bathrooms.
Location, price and comfort make this hotel hard to beat; unless you are looking for a super hipster type of place...where the W Hotel in Old Montreal would be your better bet.

The Gault is my preferred hotel in Montreal, though the Saint-James is probably the best hotel in town right now.

I would recommend St. Pauls. Its very relaxing - and you eat well in the cube.
It's conveniently situated. Business amenities weren't fantastic - but for leisure it was very nice. Your perfect weekend-getaway hotelThanks from: resilin -

I would say the W Montreal is properly the best place to stay in Montreal. It is right in the Quartier International District and only minutes away from Old Montreal. The stylish design and sensual comfort combined with the sublime service is every thing you need and want in a Luxury Hotel.
Cheers F.

Beautiful photo photo Falko. I might consider the W next time.
Here are a few photos from Hotel Gault.
Our bed was actually one of the best night sleep I've ever had. Another great feature was the heated floors that surrounded the tub and stretched to the bed.
One peculiar thing about the room was that next to the minibar there was a menu that listed everything you saw in the room being for sale. Whether it be a throw or the comforter, or the lounge chair, you could buy it and they'd apparently ship it to you.
But, I especially loved how Hotel Gault felt small and intimate the entire time. And the food was quite good when I was there. A wonderful stay all around.
