It's getting to be that time of year again. Which are your favorite ski spots? Particular lodges/runs you recommend? Best or worst experiences? I prefer snowboarding over skiing, if that influences your advice.

Aren't the best ones always the most obvious? Whistler/Blackcomb is the place to go. You'll be able see it in action for the upcoming 2010 olympics. The Fairmont Chateau Whistler is the place to stay up there.
The Canyons in Park City Utah were also great.

Baqueira Beret in the Catalonian Pyrenees is my choice. I'll be there in two weeks!

Not a destination recommendation but boots. I was looking for boots like this and thought they didn't make them any more. I discovered the company had gone out of business but then a new company bought the designs and are making them again with modern improvements. IMHO Bumble Bees are the bees knees!

Has anyone ever gone skiing in that multi-million dollar indoor ski slope that was built years ago, somewhere between Tokyo and Narita Airport, in Japan? If you did, how was it?

Jackson Hole is my hands-down favorite mountain in North America. Living as close to Lake Tahoe as I do, Kirkwood is a close second mostly because I know it so well.
Oh, and I'm a snowboarder. For Europe, I would vote for Les Trois Vallees - most terrain I've ever come close to riding in a week.
