I will be in South Beach around Christmas and New Years. What are some restaurants that I shouldn't miss while I'm there?

Prime One Twelve is definitely among those that I would consider not to be missed. Unfortunately, you might have difficulty getting a reservation as it is always very popular.

After eating at Prime One Twelve I'd definitely consider it to be one of the best steak houses in the country, and I believe it even outshines Peter Luger's in New York in terms of the quality of the food and innovation. (Though, Peter Luger's is still the best "traditional" old-style steak house).

Certainly the clientele is more stylish in Miami, so it is a real scene there, as it is right on Ocean Drive. The nonsteak items on the menu were sublime (the rich truffled mac-n-cheese is unbelievable) and the wine list is more than adequate.

You'll easily have too much food no matter what you order, but I definitely recommend saving room for dessert. I was floored at how good their pastry chef was. The best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had, hands down. Would have been a good last meal.

Despite the issues with the Mandarin Oriental, I really felt that Azul was one of the top restaurants in Miami. I know others agree as it is a very popular destination, even if it isn't in South Beach. You'll definitely be impressed, and I can't recommend it enough.

Michy's on Biscayne Boulevard is the best meal you'll have in Miami, hands down. Wonderful southern soul food with Latin influences. Not coincidentally, it was opened by Michelle Bernstein, who was well known for her work at Azul at the Mandarin Oriental. Where ever she goes, that's the place to be.

For anyone else who is going to Miami, Blue Door at the Delano and Wish at The Hotel in South Beach are also very good.

We had a fantastic dinner at Casa Tua. It is like eating at a friend's house who is a fantastic chef. The service is outstanding. We had dinner there with friends we had not seen for years and the waiter's patience was exceptional. He never made us feel as if he was in a hurry and we had a leisurely dinner with multiple courses.

I am from eastern europe and living in Miami ,but in having great restaurants to go ,I can say it is so hard to compare to the restaurants in cities like New York,Los angeles,London. but A new restaurant just opened in Aventura mall, located in Aventura, north Miami area,it is high end European bistro, called Ocean Prime, their fruit martini.wow.great drinks and good shrimp appetizers. It is also great social setting, meeting great people who are into Golf and boating,it is located acroos from turnberry county club.
    It has a great piano bar,every night,friendly.and their steaks are excellent,excellent customer service,Fun age group.30 -60,Many locals,few tourists.
In Ft lauderdale area is runway 84,classic Italian restaurant.
Miami Dolphins players hang out,Age group over 40,it dies out after 11 at night.then every one moves out to go Blue martini.there it is a setting to meet people.singles mostly.there my favorite is their fruit and cheese plate.
and another place in South Miami to go Red Fish Grill in coconut grove.Prices are high but so romantic. Age group 25-40.and it is quiet, and has now way comparing to South beach crowd.Great Fish menu.
