Has it ever occurred to anyone that hotel slippers seem to be almost always made by one of a handful of companies? After years of staying in hotels, I've almost always seen that to be the case. I would have thought that this would be an easy opportunity for hotels to outdo one another so that people were more likely to take them home with them and have a brand connection with a hotel.
Just wondering if people have noticed the same thing or if there are any hotels out there that have really high quality slippers for their guests.

I agree with your observation that many slippers look the same and that the quality is relatively similar, especially when the hotels are located in Europe or the USA. However, over the years, I've found a wide variety of different types of slippers from hotels located in Asia. The best (and most luxurious) slippers I've ever been provided with in my hotel room? Believe it or not, they came from the Park Hyatt in Seoul, Korea.

I am still wearing my Wynn hotel, leather-bottomed, velvet mule-style slippers from my trip to Vegas back in July. I'd buy them by the crate-full if I could. Once they wear out, I'll be swapping them for my interesting-looking, wicker-effect pair from the Carneros Inn. Enough of the over-used white waffle/terry towelling look!

absolutely agree with the rover, i've found south-east asia to be very creative with the provision of slippers. additionally, i enjoyed the different slippers at all of the jumeirah properties in dubai...

eglucoft, I'm going to disagree with you about the Splendido. Unless they've changed their slippers since I was there, I thought they were the same quality slippers you find everywhere else, except I believe they were blue and had the logo stitched on the front.
Don't get me wrong, I loved my Splendido slippers until I wore them out. But, at least the ones they gave me were by the same company made for every other hotel slipper I ever had.

The slippers at J.K. Place in Firenze are lovely, grey terry slip-ons, with the hotel name underfoot so you don't feel like a billboard if you take them home. ;-)
